Orville Wright Middle School Booster Club

About Us

Welcome to the Orville Wright Booster Club website!

The OWMS Booster Club is an autonomous charitable organization independent of the school and the LAUSD.  Incorporated in 1996, the purpose of the OWMS Booster Club, as a 501(c)3 organization, is to provide money for improvements or school needs benefiting students that the district is unable or unwilling to fund.  Working together with our PTA and other stakeholders, we help the administration and staff create an environment of learning at Orville Wright that exceeds what the district is capable of funding alone.

We hope you will find this site useful.  It is often difficult for many of our working family members to attend association meetings.  The site is intended to provide another way for our group to stay in contact with all of you.  You can reach us by email through this site, download forms and fliers, check for upcoming events and identify school volunteer needs.  There will be links to informative sites and articles relevant to families of students in middle school.

How the Booster Club works

At the end of each school year the executive board meets to review all previous events and schedule the following year’s fund raisers.  We recognize that different families prefer different types of fund raising.  Therefore we try to create a yearly schedule that has something of interest for everyone.

We work with the school’s administration to schedule our events.  This helps to ensure their success and prevents over-scheduling during busy times.  In this way we eliminate any negative impact on the school. All events and documentation are approved by the school administration.

The executive board is comprised of parents/guardians/family members of current Orville Wright students.  We hold elections at the end of each school year for open positions.  Positions are held for the three years that students attend, unless an individual resigns, or is unable to carry out their responsibilities.

We appreciate the support of individuals who are willing to chair events but prefer not to participate on the board.

The Booster Club manages funds in several accounts including a CD, savings, and checking account.  Allocation of funds must be voted on and approved by the executive board, with large expenditures requiring the additional approval of our OWMS Booster Club Association.
